The main directions 

• Implementation of the functions of the state collection of pathogens of viral infections and rickettsioses (FS Order No. 88 of 03/17/08/ No. 1116): depositing, storing, issuing and timely monitoring of the viability of museum strains of viruses and rickettsias. 
• The WHO Collaborating Center for the Diagnosis of Orthopoxvirus Infections and the Museum of Strains and DNA of the smallpox virus is the virological part. Reference Center for monitoring orthopoxvirus and other particularly dangerous viral infectious diseases. 
• The center for verification of diagnostic activities, which performs the function of the state collection of Rospotrebnadzor. 
• The WHO reference laboratory, which provides confirmatory testing for COVID-19. Reference Center for Monitoring coronavirus Infectious Diseases (SARS, MERS, etc.)
